53 participants, 11 machine learning prototypes, 3 weeks of development; The 2021 Program concluded with a stellar line up of AI projects presented to over 110 attendees at Demo Day.
Demo Day is the culmination of 4 weeks of education, 3 weeks of project development, and numerous TAs, lecturers, speakers, mentors, coordinators, partners, and experts who've all come together to support this cohort of burgeoning developers, entrepreneurs, and change makers.
The event was moderated by Maya Marcus-Sells (Executive Director) with remarks from: Angelique Mannella (Lab Founder, AWS), Elissa Strome (CIFAR), Warren Johnston (Amii), Mariloue Daudier (IVADO).

AI4Good Lab Hackathon

From mental health solutions to exploring vaccine-preventable diseases, it was impressive to see so many creative ideas stem from the virtual AI4Good Lab Global Health Analytics hackathon.
Three weeks into the machine learning curriculum, participants got a taste of prototyping by processing data from the WHO and proposing global health machine learning solutions.

The Lab hosted its first annual Alumni Soiree to celebrate the achievements of our alumni and offer current participants the opportunity to ask questions and get to know the broader AI4Good Lab community.
To mark this special event, we invited Émélie Brunet, Vice President of Mila to sharing her experience with helping women navigate leadership and the workforce in AI.

Data Protection & Privacy in AI

As machine learning sees widespread adoption, we face unique challenges in data protection and privacy. Do those involved in the design of AI systems have a responsibility to society? What is the goal of privacy? Can fairness be codified?
